The Shadow Maker

Tazer trembled from true fear. I felt the pleasurable feeling of have someone's life in my hands. His death was now in front of me.
"Go join your master in spirit form," i snarled, and plungded my fangs straight through his chest and into his heart.
Tazer screamed once, the horror of it echoing off the cavern walls, and fell limp, the life gone. I was consumed by the kill, and practically bathing in his blood in maniacal laughter.
His shadow, too, gave a silent scream, and vanished with his partner. Kragis stepped up by his remains and snorted.
"The bastard even tied his shadow to his life. The idiot."

With one single roar, I was back to normal, the Disturbia separate from me. I took two steps toward Drey, then stopped, leaving at least three tail-lengths between us. "Dreyden?"

Kragis held a claw in front of both of them. "Best leave him 'till he's done. Not even i get near him when he makes a satisfactory kill."
It didn't take long for me to pull from that consumed state. I stood up from the gore, and grinned at Kragis.
"Takes you back, doesn't it?" he grinned back.
"Yeah," i said, slapping him a high-five.

I rolled my eyes. "Oh please, give me a break. Killing one Fury isn't gonna really help anything... Ow!" Surrokumon hit me on the head with his tail. "Shut up, you stupid spirit." "You're the one who needs to shut up." "Why?" I gave him an evil glare that made Roku show some fear. "Okay, okay, sheesh. No need to get so sore about it."

I rolled my eyes. "Please, you two are no better than we are." Kragis snickered.

"Zip it." I grumbled to them. "Sorry, Seth is always this grumpy after turning into his fury." "Not always." Surokumon shook his head. "Okay, sometimes."

I shook my head. "Alright. I'm going to try to turn back now--ugh!"
I fell to my knees. The Fury retreated on it's own. My stomache convulted, and out of my mouth came a spew of blood.
Kragis backed away, scared. "D-D-Drey?!"

I was about to rush to his side, but Surrokumon held me back. "Dreyden?!"

I vomitted again, sprawled on the floor. There was a burning in my side, so agonizing. It was similar to the pain from the injection Darcore had put in me. I began clawing at my clothes, ripping it away, trying to do something to make it stop.
I was not prepared for what i saw.
Where Tazer had scratched me and healed over, were streaks of black liquid-like marks. They were the exact same as what was on my dragon form in the spirit realm.

"Oh... my... god..." I was not prepared for the marks on his chest. "We need to get you back, quick!"

I couldn't respond. My mouth hung open in horror.
Another episode of searing pain ripped across me. I clenched my teeth, trying not to scream.
Kragis was panicking. "What's going on?! That's never happened before!"
"It's the penalty of using the Fury," i said through my teeth.
"But that's never happened before!"
"That because my dragon spirit always took the damage! Will someone please stop this burning!" I was near clawing at my own flesh it was so bad.

I zipped over there, and immediatley put my paw on his chest. "Meshuvak onleskan tuvaste." I repeated the ancient words about five times, and then a white glow emmited from my paw and entered Drey's scar.

The burning cooled until it was completely gone. I sat there, gasping, and felt something hot on my cheeks. Tears.
"I had no idea..." i breathed. "That's what was happening..."
The marks didn't disappear, but they didn't hurt either. They would later, though. That i knew well.

I slowly removed my paw. "What was happening?" I didn't want to push him, but I to know.

"I-i don't know for sure. I think this is from the exposure to Darcore's injection. I'm getting the direct damage from it. The dragon spirit in me had been taking the damage all those times..."
I looked up and took everyone in my gaze. "No one tells the others, alright? They have enough to worry about."

I nodded, and Surrokumon made a criss-cross sign across his chest. "Cros my heart and hope to die." I smiled and rolled my eyes.

I smiled, too, and stood up. "Well, we better go let the others know danger has been taken care of."

"Alright, hop on." I lowered myself to the ground again.

I climbed on, and contacted Adriane. The Fury is gone; we took care of him.
Are you alright?
Yeah. Everything cool there?
Uh-huh. The Generald has the place on lockdown, though, so be careful.

I grunted in amusement. "Of course. Who wouldn't have put it on lockdown?" Surrokumon had already left the cave.

I retreated into the guarded part of my mind as we flew. Inside i felt exhausted. I needed some sort of break where i can be reletively normal. There was a small longing in me to return to Tendura City, the place where i first met Kira. Maybe a little tip down memory lane would be good for me.

"What are you thinking Drey?" I asked, as we slowly flew to the base. I flapped my wings slowly.

I sighed. "I don't think i've ever felt this tired. I feel like i need a long rest."

I nodded in agreement. "You can sleep on my back if you want. I'll be flying slow enough."

"I'd better not; once i'm out i don't think i'll wake easily this time. Besides, they'll wonder what happened if i come back conked out."
